There is a wealth of structural information available regarding the Arp2/3-complex in terms of its conformational changes and mechanism of action allowing it to play such a crucial role in actin branch formation. However, a lot has yet to be revealed; most notably, two out of four subdomains of the Arp2-subunit have not been crystallized yet due to the presumed high flexibility of this region, which could have implications for the functionality of Arp2 and the complex as a whole.
